Thanks to Hanners and EB for the tip. . .

It appears these are the smaller fry of mass storage replication. i.e. not the movie people, but everybody else. Which might suggest MS would have significant influence.

The replicator costs, cycle times (time it take to create one disc) and yeilds are all of a major concern to small companies.

An existing DVD replicator can be upgraded to produce HD DVD's for about 150k. When you're done doing your HD DVD's you can convert it back to a standard DVD replicator (about an hour is what I recall per avsforum discussions). A BR replication line costs 1.5mil and when it's not doing BR production, it just sits there since it cannot produce standard DVD's. You can see how these issues are important for smaller places.
