Ahem ..which one is it ? it DEFINITELY can't be both..Well, "nearly the exact same" kinda fits a 1-2% margin for all games imo, but I'll admit that sentence was a tad ambiguous at best. As proposed above, it's possible those guys are just some random jokers from the german 3d forum community, who decided they'd like to see how many people would believe such a thing. I don't really care where this thing is coming from though, since it's obviously not correct.

Hmmm, the site is a 403-Forbidden now...

Anyway, at Rage3D now, even Kombatant also came out and seems to agree with HB that it might be not a rumour anymore:!::huh:
I didn't mean to reference as you said fully agree with HB
Anyway, I do apologise if I did mis-interpret your reply.

I just remembered the speculation regarding R520 about a year and a half ago. There was this guy, what was his name? Sanders I think, who also posted a review in advance...
Did it turn out to be more or less correct or fake?
It turned out to be fake.

It isn't just down, looks like the plug has been pulled on the site entirely. The plot thickens...

The author's name is Sander Sassen, and here's the link to that article: [URL="http://www.hardwareanalysis.com/content/article/1813/"]
He never claimed he ran the tests, he merely said they come from reliable source.

Maybe this (http://www.theinquirer.net/default.aspx?article=36663) is the cause. :-D
It looks like the site is up and down. Having connection problem maybe. This link may very well be the explaination.

There's an update:
Update - Server Migration
We are currently migrating our servers to better serve you. Please excuse the short downtime we had today. We will update our article in about 10 hours with the R600 Ultra-HD resolution test and advanced information regarding power consumption and heat dissipation.

Oh goodies!
Well, Hellbinder said that he never be correct all the time to as he sometime was used on purpose...
Thus, at this point both Razor1 or Hellbinder may be used as a messager to the community  (no insult here)! Anyway, at Rage3D now, even Kombatant also came out and seems to agree with HB that it might be not a rumour anymore:!:
It would take a few weeks to see what is the truth, let wait and see... now, thing is being heat up. Who might know by the end of Jan, NV may offer a new revision of G80 too  Think about that NV can keep the G80 unify hardware in secret until almost the time it was released.
Well the guy that I talked talked to is a family friend that has worked at AMD for over 5 years now, I don't think he would lie or even miss guide me, its not in his nature. He is not marketing. he is in engineering, specifically varificiation of silicon but on the CPU side of things. I don't know who Hellbinder knows or got his information from, but I can pertty much undoubtly say that site is utter BS.

Sander you say... i know ive heard that name before. :?:
wasnt he the guy that got an exclusive review of R520 before it was released too
you might remember this little storm a few years ago: http://www.hardocp.com/news.html?news=MTUwMjEsU2VwdGVtYmVyLDIwMDU=
Sander Sassen of HardwareAnalysis.com looks as if he might have gotten caught putting out a video card "review" of a product he never had.
"CONCLUSION: When it comes to R520 results, you should only believe journalists who have established a reputation for being trustworthy" ... "Sander has 'presented the reasons' why he was NOT on the list of 100 press for our R520 Tech Day."

The apparent indignation of some B3D mods about what people are prepared to believe is disappointing. Most everyone in this thread has remained respectful and is just having clean fun in what amounts to a purely speculative discussion. I remember thinking how Wavey's tradition of dropping cryptic hints was frustrating to the extreme, but certainly it was less intrusive. No offense guys, but the B3D forum community is capable of maintaining a proper perspective without the paternalism. We know you're itching to reveal facts, but don't expect others to carry your crosses with you.

It's not that. This review was a scam, probably for the sole purpose of making money via Google hits.

The Nv40 is *NOT* a 16x1 Never has been and never will be.
It is an 8x2 with vertex units that *Can* load up to 4 textures per cycle depending on the operation and needs at the given time.

Oh, puh-lease. Are you really going to make me go get a link of Wavey threatening people with frying pans over 16/24/32 for R520 "pipes"?
