"How Gainward can make the card run as quiet as 7db knowing that heart beat is 10 db and rest of Nvidia partners will be from 60-70db remains mystery for now. ยต "

Of course they say AS QUIET AS, so I suppose maybe they think when the fan stops it will be quiet lol.
but b4 they said
"They were able to reduce the cooling system noise to only 7dbs."
so who knows what they really mean, I doubt they do.


Plus with 75watts of heat if it is quiet that probably means it is just dumped into the case instead of out the back oh well

Liquid nitrogen? 7db is really quiet. Will make the nv30 a much more viable option for many people

I've heard for some time now that NV30 would be quieter than we've seen. Of course my friend only got to see a GeforceFX for a little while, (he doesn't work in that department), but he said it wasn't loud

Exactly. Gainward tends to charge a premium for their cards anyway (at least in Australia), so add on some 'special' cooling solution, and who knows how much this beast will cost.

[Edit]: I just noticed that the box (http://www.gainward.de/gwnewsite/gwdown/product/GFFX/jpeg/GF_FX_U_1000_PLUS_GS_L.jpg) says High Quality 5.1 Sound Card Included. Perhaps Gainward suggests cranking the sound to cover the noise, thus the card appearing to be as quiet as a heart beat 8)

LOL, maybe they play 70db of noise in antiphase to the sound card :)
