Has any(lucky)one who now owns a XB360 tried to use a generic 802.11b/g USB adapter with Xb360 for wireless connection?

Just a strange shot-in-the-dark tip: Under Network Settings, make sure you enter a Hostname (it can be anything, just not the default "Not Set"). I believe you find it under the wireless settings under Additional Settings, but just poke around until you see a field called Hostname. I was having trouble with a wireless bridge until I stuck a value into there and then it magically worked.

I used my "more expensive than the 360 usb" d-link gaming bridge and it worked beautifully. the 360 found it as a bridge and I just needed to put in my WPA pass and its worked great since. I will try one of my generic adapters with my second 360 and see what happens (although I did buy the 360 usb adapter).

On a side note, I am already in love with Live! Arcade. i am also happy to report no freezing issues on either of my 360s

I'd quess the wireless bridges that are conected to the Ethernet port should work as ever, but how about those USB wireless adapters?

I have the DGL-3420 which is a ethernet wireless bridge. That's the one that actually would not work until I plugged in a host name. I thought it very strange.

EDIT: In looking at the D-Link site again recently, I noticed they don't call the DGL-3420 a wireless bridge, but a "wireless adapter". I also have a wireless bridge that I tried at one point, and as rapidrabbit says, the console couldn't tell it was wireless.

FYI...

http://www.xbox.com/en-US/support/connecttolive/default.htm

"Connection Methods" under "Xbox 360: Connect to Xbox Live" seems to have a pretty good set of information.

That's what I am also curious about.. I bought an USB wireless adapter quite a while ago for 40$. I would be really happy if that one works. I think 100$ for an USB adapter is overprized.

I'm pretty sure it won't work. Don't those things usually require drivers?

I am using the wireless bridge from the original xbox, no problems with it

That plugs into the eithernet port though, eh? Obviously anything like that is bound to work.
