Interesting little read on where the whole media center functionality of 360 may come into play in the future:

For those who did not see my link on the "HDMI" thread, there is also some big news linked there on MCE and recording HD programming.

5 million MCE pcs sold this year, and Vista will be 'native MCE', interesting.

The power consumption alone make it a bad "media extender". Do you know the power adoptor has its own fans?!

Why not just connect your HDTV to your PC, I do that.

Becuase i have more TVs than PCs. :)

Power consumption? I'm sure an 1800w outlet can manage. :)

Is the xbox360 really louder than the old PS2 model?? If so, is it only during gameplay, I'd imagine if it's running as an media extender or DVD player it would be much quieter.
Is it safe to tuck the power brick under my home entertainment cabinet, where dust can accumulate and which is already crowded with other power bricks and loops of cabling?
Another article that I read said you can't fast forward or review your media if you use the xbox360 as an media extender?!? That can't be true, surely, or is it???

It's only 'loud' when playing games, people have said it's pretty damn quite in the dashboard and when playing DVDs, I expect it's no different when streaming HDTV.
