Still hasn't shown up in any stores around here, but there's a few online places you can find it.

Strangely, (or maybe not so strangly), vendors are screwing up the desriptions and referring to the 9500 PRO as 9500 w/128MB memory and vis-a-versa.

Anyways, lowest price I've seen was about $167 for the Sapphire w/128. From some off the wall online vendor who claims to have it in stock.

Maybe it'll get down to my impulse buy range before long so I can buy it for no reason.

Likewise, the 9700 amateur boards are listed on pricewatch for around $275ish, with one 9700 Pro board listed at $300. Once more than just two places have the 9700 amateur, I'm thinking the price will drop down to around $250ish.

Are the 128M cards definitely 9500-PRO models?

...the 9700 amateur...

LOL. :D

Maintaining its amateur status so it can occul pixels in the Olympics, no doubt.

There's no point getting a 9700 "amateur" at this point since the price is so close to the "PRO". Wait until it's widely available and the price drops to 250 or less if you're planning on getting it.

Shouldn't ATi hurry up if they really want to have the 9500/Pro and 9700 on shelves before x-mas?

Actually, newegg has a 9700 "amateur" for $280, the pro is $322.
Thats a considerable price difference.

If you are going from a thrid party, be very careful what you are buying - they are being allowed to sell 128MB non-pro versions. If you're looking for the PRO make sure it has all 8 pipes enabled.

(and this doesn't belong here).
