I've updated the forum to the new phpbb Version 2 code, which adds quite a number of features to the forum and brings its look and feel in-line with many of the other forums out there. Unfortunatly (as you may be able to see) this has altered the news code, so we've got a little work to do there (Sorry Marco!).
Over the next few days we will be making some more updates to the forum, such as adding the ad's back in (yes, they are evil, but a necessary one!).
The forum is still essentially a 'beta' release, but the enhancements it brings are worthwhile. Check it out here (http://216.12.218.25/domain/www.beyond3d.com/forum/)
looks great, thanks!
btw: is it possible to get a "goto first unread post" function?

I'm not sure about that particular one, but there is a 'view new posts since last visit' link on the forum index that will bring up all the new posts, in all forums, that have occured since you were last here.
i must be blind...
the "View new Posts" pic http://216.12.218.25/domain/www.beyond3d.com/forum/templates/subSilver/images/icon_newest_reply.gif is the thing i wanted...

Dave,
Unless you have Javascript switched on (which I generally avoid) the forum looks quite bad compared to the old system. Thought you ought to know.
Dave,
maybe you should turn of HTML in Posts (just to prevent some JavaScript/PopUp "fun";) ). BBCode sould be enough.

The HTML is restricted to tags that I've specified, so things should be safe. We need HTML for the news to be generated on the main page as well, however once a mod is available to restrict HTML to mods/admin only that will go off. :)

Dave,
I've only just noticed that the BBCode formatting doesn't show up unless javascript is enabled. Any chance of getting this fixed?
Cheers

:o
I wonder what kind of sites Simon F used to surf on, since the only sites with annoying javascript popups and all I know are... *hrm* have some kind of explicit content or illegal content...

Ha!
The reason is that my 'ancient' browser frequently locks up if it encounters some "funny" javascript. The previous B3D forum used to cause this a lot, which was particularly annoying, until I discovered that JS was to blame.

Just use a newer/better browser, Simon.
Zonelab Pro blocks those popups for me ofcourse it also blocks the emoticons funtion  so I had to turn it off(I will see if reconfiguring my current setting is safe)
This is better then Beyond3D ever was. Really a great job keep it up I really never liked the design on the first site but this is great 8)

Well I don't visit sites that feature pop-ups so that doesn't worry me - it's the increased chance of crashing that I don't enjoy!
aah so you have to use bbcode :( instead of html I have typed after the html quote and as you will see the text ain't visible <quote>don't work</quote>
