Seems more like an occasion to show a teaser, but I wouldn't expect a full blown MGS4 trailer.

Is that Aug. 8th? If so this summer will be hot indeed. :D

Highly doubtful that we'll get anything running on PS3 hardware.

Development kits are available for a while, the first playable titles are expected at TGS in September, why not?

I am nowhere near the MGS whore some are, but the MGS2 trailer for the PS2 had to be the first OMFG! moment for me last gen. Despite being as entertaining as listening to books on tape, the game is damn cinematic, and *if* we get a glimpse of MGS4 this year, it is almost guaranteed to rock the house. PLEASE let this be true. PEACE.

I thought I remembered reading somewhere at E3 that the first "real" footage of MGS4 wouldn't be shown till E3 '06. Maybe a teaser is possible before that, but I would not expect that until TGS at the earliest.
I'm also not so sure about playable PS3 games at TGS, at least not in bulk. We're only about two months away from TGS now.

Many should have devkits for 6months when TGS starts so i think its possible. But playable nahh...
Well thats kinda a let down if games nare ot playable all it is, is E3 like fluff, there isn't any excuses why we shouldn't see some games playable on PS3 hardware at TGS.

I'm sure sony is smart enough to want people to compare 360 games vs. the e3 "enhanced" demos ie. the Killzones and Motorstorms vs. realtime games in early stages of development. They aren't the marketing kings for nothing. Plus Deano says his game is still very early and not at playable framerates so I doubt any other developers are further along with their titles.

The outside environments with the number of characters shown in the video are not at playable framerates, the indoor areas are at playable framerates, according to Deano.
Ooooooooooooooooh MGS4 and PES5 :D

Development didn't start until March or so.

I know there's an event in New York in October which has playable PlayStation 3 titles (behind closed doors), that's only one month later than the Tokyo Game Show...
But I do agree, most PlayStation 3 titles will be trailer only up untill E3 2006.

No way you can't be serious, shouldn't the PS3 almost be on store shelves by then?
I highly doubt Sony will give M$ that much of a head start, it wil hurt them in the states and Europe if they do so.

Well they ARE giving them a headstart, no news there... Whether PS3 is playable or not by the time X360 is out doesn't matter, it will still come out after it. The headstart is gonna stay whether people can play unfinished and therefore potentially sub-standard games prior to launch or not.

Yep, I'm with c0_re here. There's no way Sony will let that happen. So MS will have games in people's hands for 7 months before the first person gets to play a demo on the PS3. Yeah right, not gonna happen pal. :)

Oh so that's what Sony needs to counter MS?! Demos?! :?

No I was being sarcastic. I know that if Sony wants to counter MS with demos everyone will be laughing at them. They need games. Even if Ninja Theory has to make the indoor scenes playable only.

I consider this single point in time to be parallel to Microsofts timeline. I expect Sony at TGS (timeline wise) to have the same results that Microsoft had at E3. I'm just factoring the release dates that eachother has...of course in the end, its up to the developers to deliver Demo's to the convention (I would think that Microsoft would push harder than Sony to get things out).
So, I'm expecting Demos of some sort at TGS.
I mean come atleast some realitme demo's that can be minipulated with a real PS3 controller, is that really to much to ask?
Sony is in a tough spot . If thier games are in the same state of ms's back at e3 for this tgs they are in hot water . You can't have shown us cgi killzone and bring out the real game playable thats on par with pdz . Its just going to hurt them alot .
This is why i think we will see movies of what we've already seen

Weren't there already some very ready looking game titles for PS3 at the E3 conference. Sure they weren't playable yet, and might not be playable at TGS, but imo enough not to make me worry much about the state of PS3.
The state at which the PS3 and it's games are presented now and in the coming months are more a decision made based on marketing strategy and hype building than anything else I think.
Maybe Sony just has little need to push the developers to produce playable demos for TGS, but instead allows them to concentrate on E3 2006 for maximum imnpact before launch, and more polished playable code.
Sony in a tough spot, I don't see it that way.
I'm not talking about the Killzone, but the game trailers like the ones from Insominac, Ubisoft and Sega (Fifth Phantom or something like that).
While nothing awesomely jawdropping, they certainly matched the claimed gameplay videos of what MS had to show (certainly tons better than the so-this-gen-average-PC-game-looking PDZ! (IMO)) and looked next gen enough, at least the framerates were fluid and overall they looked quite polished already.

If Namco is gonna make a launch title (no reason to assume they won't), they should have something ready for TGS. Maybe not playable, but should definitely be presentable. They have to be the kings of rushed launch titles. Afterall, RR5 was the showpiece for the PS2 at TGS 1998. I can see an RR or Tekken in video form. I hope tonight's press event shows something new. At least a new demo, like the flocking birds or something...SOMETHING. :? PEACE.
