Guys,
Are you using D3D or OpenGL? I only ask as I utilised OpenGL with the demo and due to the missing effects (shadows etc) gained a very healthy boost in FPS and game play smoothness. Alas the full game has problems as several levels, CTF November etc fail to load and simply show the loading screen when using OpenGL. I suspect this is something to do with textures/map size etc but as you can't get back into the system without a reboot it's difficult. Log files report nothing?

Although you could argue D3D looks slightly better I wasn't fussed about the shadows etc and wanted the additional FPS with OpenGL. 6*FSAA+16AA @1024*768 max details is very nice :)

I'm using 7.77s but also tried the 7.76s. Both exhibit this behaviour.

Just wanted to confirm whether or this is a driver issue or game issue or just simply my issue?

Thanks in advance

Seiko

this is straight from the release notes in UT2K3

3.10 OpenGL issues
------------------

The OpenGL renderer is not officially supported on Windows but might be
a good choice on certain hardware / driver combinations as it might
trigger fewer bugs in drivers. Unless you are experiencing serious visual
flaws there is no reason to change to the OpenGL renderer though. Unlike
Unreal Tournament, Unreal Tournament 2003 was designed around D3D and
offers the best performance and visual quality with the D3D renderer.

Also please keep in mind that the OpenGL renderer is still work in
progress and has higher system requirements than the D3D renderer. E.g.
it relies on the presence of texture compression which rules out e.g.
TNT2 cards.

The OpenGL renderer is known to not work correctly with pre-7.76 ATI
drivers.

Yep although many of the levels work so I'm hoping the fix is imminent. BTW, OpenGL is so much smoother on my 9700. 6*FSAA is a real option even in UT2003!

Hopefully Daniel will have some time to see why a few levels fail to load.

Could you email me a list of all the levels that fail loading?

Thanks,

These are the levels I can confirm that fail to load under OpenGL even though they load correctly in D3D on my system. Note I didn't try double domination or bombing run although I know one the level fails from that pool; Just can't remember it's name. The oil rig I think.

DM_Serpico
CTF_December
CTF_LostFaith

My system specs (all at stock speed)

AsusA7V333
XP2000+
ATI9700 Pro (7.77s)
256 DDR mem (2700)
Win XP

If any else can confirm or dispute these findings I'd appreciate it.

Thanks
