HDTV question

I saw a 36 inch HDTV for sale the other day. The interesting thing though is it had a DVI input!

Has anyone seen what normal applications, games, etc looks like on such a HDTV monitor/tv?

How does it compare to a LCD or crt, I'm assuming a little worse, I'm not sure what resolution the tv uses.

HDTV:

720x480i (interlaced) = Like standard TV
1920x1080i

720x480p (progressive) = Like a monitor
1280x720p

You would need to use the DVI/DB15 or Component inputs for any sort of decent image from a PC. If the TV has a DVI or DB15 input it may well do standard 4:3 monitor resolutions in addition to the ones I listed; 1024x768 and 1280x1024 are not uncommon.

Well, the dot pitch isn't great on HDTVs. On the other hand, the viewing area is much larger. I doubt it'd be a good solution for most PC users, but maybe for something like listening to MP3s on your home theater system and watching DVD movies it'd work just fine.

You'll see a lot more games with HDTV (480P) support coming out. The GC/Xbox supports it out of the box, and Sony released the docs for progressive mode recently.

It looks real crisp. Maybe too crisp, cause I can notice aliasing much more.

I think before I buy, I'll have em hook up a PC to it and let me fool around, maybe one with a nice 9700 in it.
