Hi,
I recently encountered some problems in regards to my area of display shifting in some games. The first is during WarCraftIII in which my display works correctly during gameplay while everything is rendered 3d but when the game goes into cut scenes such as the intro everything shifts about a quarter to the right, making part of the FMV outside my monitor screen if you know what I mean. The next problem comes again when I'm playing dungeon siege. The cut scenes are again shifted to the right getting cut off. Worst off, even while rendering in 3d during the game, the area of display is shifted to the right again. Interestingly if I play in 1024x768 mode, the screen fits perfectly on my monitor, although the menu screens are still shifted. I know my wording can be confusing, I apologize for that. I appreciate if anyone can help me on this. By the way, these are the only two games that I have encountered this problem so far. I have the lastest directx and detonator, so I don't know what's wrong. Maybe it could be my display setting? I also have an old monitor with max res at 1024x768, so maybe it's the problem from the monitor?

Let's see, so basically when you're in a dungeon in Dungeon Siege and you're moving around the screen kinda splits and then comes back together? Maybe like when you're fighting some monsters?

Do you have an NEC monitor?

Hi,
Sorry about my wording in the first post, I know that maybe I didn't describe my problems correctly. Basiclly the picture shifted to the right during the game. So on my monitor I would have the left side black then followed by an incomplete picture to the right since the right most of the picture is out of monitor screen.

No I don't have a NEC monitor I think I just have a generic monitor which I got 4 years ago with my first computer.

Low end NEC's monitors have a problem with such things. When you open windows and so on, the picture on the screen expands a little and then contracts to normal size. It is possible that the internals of your monitor were produced by NEC, though I"m not sure if NEC sells it's monitor "stuff" to others to repackage. I don't think there is any way to fix it, mind you.

Perhaps the issue is that the setting for your monitor at a certain resolution is shifted to right. So for instance, if you play the game at 800x600 it looks fine because you've adjusted your monitor properly but when the game shows a cutscene in 640x480, your monitor hasn't been calibrated properly for that res. So to solve it, try changing your windows resolution to 640x480 (assuming the cutscenes are in this resolution), center the image, then go ahead and change your windows setting to whatever you do use. Then try the game. Good luck.

Thanks guys,
I think I have my problems solved, following Ty's suggestion. Solved both WarCraftIII and Dungeon Siege's problem. Didn't know it was this easy  . The funny thing is that why does it only happens at these two games? I suppose some games calibrate your picture to fit your screen and some doesn't?
