The Tech report have run with the thought of AMD's athlons moving to a 166MHz DDR FSB ('http://www.tech-report.com/reviews/2002q3/athlon-333bus/index.x?pg=1')(333MHz effective). They examine the potential benefits and of course there are mentions about this mysterious "speed crown" that seems to regularly change hands. Don't however take this as an indication that athlons using such an FSB are going to be for sale any time soon...

There are of course enthusiasts (like me  ) running that have run at these speeds and greater and they've been there for quite some time. There is however the issue that some mainboard manufacturers apparently increase latency at higher FSBs leading to the performance gains not being as great as they might otherwise be, while allowing spectacularly high numbers to be reached.
