View Full Version : Best and Worst graphics card manufacturers ??
Im buying a new video card this week.
What are the BEST and WORST video card makers :?:
I've heard ASUS is good and Visiontek is bad.
what about all the others :?:
ASUS is expensive and their customer support is supposedly crappy.
I really like MSI. They have good CS, an above average software bundle, and really good cooling solutions at a reasonable price point.
I agree about Asus being too expensive. Their vid cards aren't even quite so good either.
Now Sapphire is bad because they sell 128bit radeons as 9800pros.
Hercules has a problem with poor cooling of their radeons, but they will replace broken cards without much hassle.
That's about it. Just go for cheap solutions mostly.
If you check out the forums you'll see that cards of any company burn out sometimes. The only difference is costumer service.
Every company has to replace a defective card under warranty so i would go for the cheapest. (Well no noname cards since you never know about 2d quality on those)
If you buy a 6800 BFG might be slightly better because of their long warranty. (Life-time but it only means product cycle of the card wich can be still good.)
I had the misfortune of having to RMA a asus video card. their RMA SUCKS! i called up their tech support to get an RMA number and i was on hold for 40 minutes. I was then transfered to someone who could barely speak english. Then they took a month to get my card back to me and the one they sent back did not work either. so i said, fthis im not going to go thru that again, tossed it on the shelf and bought a 6800GT from XFX (would have bought BFG but none were in stock), they are on my sh!t list now after how they treated one of their customers, heck, i have been buying ALL of my components from asus, cdrw, motherboard, video cards. BYE BYE you sons of guns! Abit or gigabyte for life
I have to agree that ASUS is good only if you don't need to RMA a part.
I ate frustration for over eight months regarding a video card RMA before I decided I'd never get satisfaction from ASUS support.
PNY on the other hand RMA'd my card on the first phone call, and PNY cross-shipped the replacement. I had a replacement card in hand 3 working days later. People dislike the PNY shelf-life "lifetime" warranty, but the support is STELLAR within that period.
Check the MSI support boards before you buy MSI. MSI is having troubles with their NX6800 series.
