Large forum signatures are cropping up here, and they are not really appreciated - they distract from the subject content and eat up unecessary bandwidth (server and client). Please restrict your forum sigs to a few lines and without images - the only images that are acceptible are the small Beyond3D Team Folding@Home images / stats.
Please post the ID's of what you consider to be sig offenders here....
Can I add to your request Dave that people don't use vulgar language either? I know that sounds terribly snobbish and boring, but it's quite off-putting seeing the f-word repeatedly in threads sometimes - it doesn't help with work either.

I would add that quotes directly mentioning or quoting other forum members be stricken too.

No no no... You know what would be REALLY REALLY cool....
The coolest thing is if you had a list of "bad words" which were automatically substituted for "less bad words" from british slang.
Like, substitute "f**king" with "bloody" (simple one)...
Or "wow" with "COR BLIMEY!!" or "BLOODY HELL!"...
Or "u're an idiot" (or many other silly names) with "OI U NUTTER!"
THAT would be really cool.

Why not a size limit?

But we had so much fun with that for so long... it's like a tradition!

How about "no more Doom3 topics".
I mean, now the Games Forum has a thread titled "Best Settings" or something like that. I mean, everyone knows it's a Doom3 thread, it just IS, but what kind of a title is that? There must be 20 topics on Doom3, and yeah they're somewhat different from each other (yeah right...) but what the hell. Might as well open a Doom3 forum, then become IGN.
EDIT: Counted them, there are 17 threads on Doom3 only in the first page of the GAMES forum.
Plus the couple wandering around each other forum.

Natoma could you reduce your signature height ?
You could use less space for your system specs or remove them altogether.
Jaws could you reduce your signature size too ?
I've nothing against ASCII art, but it's clearly distracting.
I'm escaping doom3 threads at the moment, so I don't know who else have huge signatures that could be reduced.
It looks like elder forum users just behave well (we did have a dicussion about signatures once upon a time), while newer members tend to follow more 'popular' forum trends... (Which is not to please me.)

Well now you now how I feel.
I thought I'd let others feel the same way as I do about it by going ahead and doing it.

It still takes up half the viewable area of my browser! Admittedly, I'm running at 800x600 (don't ask), but... :p
(I'm joking. Except for the 800x600 part.)

It's not swearing as such that bothers me - after all, this is pretty much a website for educated adults (heaven help us...) and I wouldn't expect everyone to write as if they're producing final year dissertations. It's when you have repeatedly appearing in a thread because it's part of a signature.

Just to avoid any confusion the comment was directed at Rev. :)

I reduced the font size from 12 to 10. :)
Why don't you use some similar, 'inline' format like mine? :)
